Value & Quality

Born in London, we value tradition - but defy convention. For over 130 years, Alfred Dunhill has embodied the quiet confidence of British elegance, defined by craft, character, and innovation.

At Alfred Dunhill, value is not a trend. It is tradition. It is the quiet assurance of provenance, the dignity of true craftsmanship, and the integrity of garments made to endure. With the Value & Quality series, we invite you behind the scenes of our most storied makers - regional mills, knitwear specialists and artisans whose generational knowledge is woven into every piece.

Hand-finished details

This is clothing defined not by season, but by standard. By how it’s made, where it comes from, and why it endures. Because refined luxury, for Alfred Dunhill, is not just how it looks. It is how it is crafted.

Cashmere washed in Highland water

From the banks of Loch Leven to the Scottish Borders, we explore the process from raw fibre to refined garment. In Kinross, cashmere arrives from the high plateaus of Mongolia and China. It is washed in soft Highland water, dyed in-house and colour-matched with remarkable precision. The yarns are then blended, carded, spun, and twisted - a sequence carried out with quiet mastery, refined over generations. The result: exclusive yarns that form the basis of our British-made knitwear.

Weaving at the Hawick mill

Our journey continues to the banks of the River Teviot in the picturesque town of Hawick. This historic mill is world-renowned for woven excellence in both design and quality. As well as producing Tweed, it is famed for its woven pure cashmeres and luxury fabrics - a seamless blend of traditional craft skills and modern technology. Its cloth carries the unmistakable weight of heritage while offering a subtle, contemporary refinement.

A community of makers

Together, these makers, and others like them - from Somerset to London – that are part of the Alfred Dunhill family represent more than the sum of their processes. They speak to something greater: a community of makers, a belief that real luxury lies in material integrity, in tactile quality, in making things well.
